In 2009 I received an M.A. degree in Spanish from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. The following year I completed Postgraduate Studies for Translators of Specialised Texts at the UNESCO Chair in Translation and Intercultural Communication of the Jagiellonian University. Additionally, during the course of my philological studies I learned Portuguese. In order to deepen my knowledge of this language, in 2008 I went to study for half a year at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, under the Erasmus Program.
I also have a Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) with the highest grade.
I have been translating professionally since 2009. In 2011 I began work for a Spanish construction company that operates on the international market. As the in-house translator, I obtained valuable experience translating technical texts. Working in the construction industry afforded me extensive exposure to and knowledge of provisions of construction laws, water laws, and the public procurement law. It also allowed me to become acquainted with a range of industry-specific technical solutions.
I have translated hundreds of pages of technical specifications concerning roads, bridges and hydro technical constructions, Functional and Utility Programs, Terms of Reference, claim letters and contracts based on the FIDIC conditions (Red and Yellow Book), work requirements, as well as subcontractor and delivery agreements. I also have extensive experience interpreting during business negotiations, meetings with investors, inspections, technical meetings and company training sessions.
Outside of the construction industry, I have done translations in other specialised areas (legal, medical, economic, IT related, etc.). For the last few years I have been taking part in three ongoing projects supporting translation works for different institutions of the European Union. Through this, I have become well acquainted with the various functions of the EU and significantly expanded my glossary term base. I have also completed a 5-month traineeship program at the Directorate-General for Translation, the European Commission’s in-house translation service based in Luxembourg.
When selecting my services, you can be assured to receive translations not only of the highest quality, but also of the utmost terminological accuracy.
